Noah's Saturday Japanese School Induction Ceremony

April 10, 2010
This beautiful boy is growing up. He's now eligible for the kindergarten class of the Saturday School which insures that he will learn about the Japanese side of his heritage and maintain his bi-lingual abilities now that he is in American school during the week. The Japanese traditionally have many ceremonies during a lifetime and the beginning of this education is one of them. Held in a local high school gym, it was set up in a style reminiscent of a graduation. Many of the children attending are children of Japanese citizens working in the US but some like Noah, are living in the Los Angeles area.

Mom and Dad waiting for Noah to enter:

The second boy from the left is Noah.

Gram and Gramp watch proudly in the background as they proceed to their seats.

Noah stands and answers when his name is called:

The children perform a song with 'choreography'. This is their first day at this school where they did well in following the protocol of this important ceremony.
