Excursion with Gram and Gramp

After the Easter Egg Hunt, we departed for an excursion with Micah and Noah south of LA to Lake San Marcos with the plan to stay tonight and enjoy Legoland tomorrow. It is rather cool so we nixed the swimming that had been on the agenda. The view of the lake from our balcony is beautiful.

As Micah was unpacking and Gramp and Noah were investigating the bird life off the balcony, there was a strange rumbling which I, at first, thought was the air conditioner but as the bed began to jump around and shake, I very soon realized that we were experiencing our FIRST and fortunately, with no damage in our area, CALIFORNIA EARTHQUAKE!! We subsequently found that it was big news being reported on the TV and had been centered not too far south of us in Baja Mexico and measured a 7.2 on the Richter scale. It was fairly deep underground so that mitigated the shaking quite a bit. It was felt up in LA since Kurt and Shigemi asked right away if we had felt it when we called to report that we had reached our hotel with there children.

After a big day, playing some games with Gram and Gramp, reading a book, brushing teeth, Micah and Noah lay down and pretty promptly fell asleep. Looking forward to tomorrow with them.
