Just Hanging Out on Friday

Thursday April 22, 2010

Picked Karen up from school. Had more of a tour driving back home of the great things to see in the area, stopping to see what kind of pottery was at the North Eagle Gallery. We had a very interesting time talking to Caryn about the art she and her husband produce. Both Karen and I loved their work, purchased a few items and will, no doubt, invest again sometime in the future.

One thing of interest was the Christmas tree farm they oversee. They encourage the cut-your-own customers to cut above the bottom of the tree leaving several branches at the bottom. Leaving a living tree is a great recycling concept; a new leader eventually begins growing and another tree can be harvested when it reaches a size to be cut again.

Harry and I relaxed at home a bit, ate breakfast at the Omelette Express in Santa Rosa and visited the Oakmont Community which is a senior community near Karen's to investigate the types of homes there as well as the details of activities available. It's a lovely area but may be a bit out of our price range.

Had a late lunch nearby and visited downtown Santa Rosa where we visited with Rainbow Snoopy. Snoopy, Woodstock and Charlie Brown appear throughout the area with decorations much as other communities have done with reindeer, cows, fish and so forth. Charles Schultz lived and worked in the area which explains this phenom.

At home with the puppies, Harry continued the tennis ball throw, catch and retrieve with Cody and Sequoia. It's just a question of who gives up first - usually NOT the dogs.

Played bocce with Karen and Patrick later that evening and enjoyed the flowers that are blooming in Karen's evolving backyard garden.
