May 1, 2010The mighty Mississippi isn't so wide here in Davenport, Iowa as it is in some other states. We stood on it's banks as it flowed by.
A tug is pushing a long barge along and will soon appear near the restaurant where we had dinner to wait it's turn to go through the lock there.
Geese honk overhead.
We ate on the deck beside the river at the Boat House in Bettendorf, Ia. It was Prom night so we enjoyed seeing all the young people in their tuxes and evening gowns while we watched the sun go down which made quite a show with a rainbow across the water and 'purple' sky (just for me, no doubt - have you noticed throughout this trip account the predominance of purple clothing on my body??).
